Wonderful example of this timeless piece. Some signs of age from over the years, such as the brittle wicker (as seen in images) or slight wear on the top coat of the finish here and there. One or two nails visible from repairs done over the years. All is very stable and structural. All and all a wonderful piece. Can fill a large room as one unit or capable of separating around a room, home, patio, etc! Cushions and upholstery are included and in good shape.

Included is an authentic Paul Frankl designed Bamboo Rattan, 3 seater sofa. Similar furniture was in the movie’The Godfather’ which is why it’s called Godfather furniture. It has a classic Art Deco look with ten strands of bamboo rods and pretzel arms. Ten strands, or bamboo rods, are more rare than the standard 7 strand sets. Includes new floral cushion covers over the original brocade fabric, one seat cushion is missing the original brocade. There is a label which reads: Modern Rattan Furniture Maker, Hong Kong. Paul Frankl came to the US from Vienna with a fresh perspective and enthusiasm for creating a uniquely American Design aesthetic. Many of the Hollywood Elite people enjoyed lounging poolside in his very comfortable, biomorphic furniture. His revolutionary designs are as popular today as they were in the 1930s. Paul Frankl was born in 1886 and died in 1958. An Architect, he had a studio in New York City, and moved to California. The sofa is in excellent condition with period wear and patina, consistent with age and use. Some of the 1/4 rattan wrap is missing. Very sturdy and strong. There is replacement wrap on the back center leg. There is no serious damage. Please note the following item specifics. OVERALL SIZE IN INCHES: 74 wide x 31 high x 32 deep x 16 seat height. Vtg Mid Century Paul Frankl Pretzel Steambent Rattan Living Room Furniture LOT

This is an all original, 1950s, 6 strand pretzel steam bent rattan living room or patio set designed by Paul Frankl. Original foil furniture labels are present but no longer legible. This set comes from the estate of the original owners. They have been extremely well cared for and have never been outside. Original cotton and coiled-steel spring cushions are in wonderful condition and still sit well. Unlike foam cushions, they will not sag or collapse or emit dust particles over time. To have cushions like this made today would be incredibly expensive. They truly dont make them like they used to. Joinery is still excellent. It can be easily restored to near showroom original condition or enjoyed and loved as it is. This set is original and unrestored. As with all vintage furniture, there will be some scuffs, some surface wear, some drying finish. Binding material is in very good condition for its vintage, as shown in photographs. On many sets this had completely fallen off. (They are cosmetic only, the pieces are structurally sound even without them). This set carries no odors that I could detect. It was kept in a room with no direct sun exposure for the last 60 years, which helps explain its condition. Overall condition is good to very good vintage condition. The couch is a wonderful sectional-style that can be arranged in any format you choose, or put together as one unit. Put together in one continuous piece, it measures 100.5 inches in length. Arm chairs measure 33 inches in width. Square table is 30 inches across. Set includes four-piece sectional sofa, one square table with removable tiered top corner piece, two full arm lounge chairs, and both original ottomans. All is extremely strong and sound. I have shown multiple sofa configurations in the photo gallery. Please take a moment to read my feedback. I will happily arrange for transport via USHIP online. Mid-Century Paul Frankl Pretzel Style Rattan Furniture, 7 pieces

This is an all original, 1950s, 6 strand pretzel steam bent rattan living room or patio set designed by Paul Frankl. There is no makers mark, but many companies produced this furniture using his design. Acquired from the original owner and has been kept in the same home for more than 50 years. Original vinyl upholstered cushions on all of the pieces and glass on the coffee table. · One piece sofa (not a sectional) with 6 removable cushions. 6 strands on the arms, 9 strands on the base. 78″ width x 36″ depth x 32 height. · Two chairs, each with removable cushions. 32″ width x 36″ depth x 32 height. · One ottoman with removable cushion. 21″ width x 21″ depth x 12 height. · One coffee table with glass. 42″ width x 24″ depth x 17 height. · Two side tables. 11″ width x 25″ depth x 20 height. All of the cushions have some wear and some of the vinyl has cracking on the corners. One cushion has a hole in the back corner and another cushion is splitting at the seams. Another cushion has a slit on both sides. All of these cushions have the pattern on both sides so you can rotate and flip them to find the best looking side. You could get away with this for display except for the one cushion that has a slit on both sides. Please see detail photo for damage. One of the chairs has the binding missing from one side of the back and the binding is scuffed on some of the other pieces, especially the coffee table. Please see detail photo. This doesn’t seem to compromise the integrity of the piece at all, though, and is mostly cosmetic. All of the pieces are rock solid, structurally. The rattan is worn and scuffed from years of loving use, but could easily be restored to like-new condition with new lacquer by a rattan specialist, if desired. The side tables have the most wear from condensation, please see detail photo. Everywhere else, contact me.
