Both are entirely identical construction with one having had new cushioning applied and thus not as “fluffy” as the darker model. Perfect matched set ideal for living room project or reception area. A very good looking and well made piece, the carving is very much in the Gothic style, the back removes as you can see converting this from a comfortable two seat bench settee into a very style bluster armchair window seat or chaise. The upholstery has been professionally cleaned and is in good order, the wood work clean waxed repaired and polished. There will be normal patina marks from honest age and genuine use. Height:- 94cm top to bottom, 72cm to the top of the arms only. Please note all measurements are taken at the widest point, if you would like any additional or specific measurements please ask. Attributed with confidence & references to the very fine workshop of J & JW Meeks, NYC, circa 1850′s Presenting an Attractive Victorian Parlor Set in the Stanton Hall pattern by J & JW Meeks. This fine parlor set consist of a well done Settee, 2 fine Arm Chairs, and three attractive Side Chairs. Features include the nicely executed laminated rosewood, the carved crests of flowers, shells, and scroll carvings, the gadrooned crest rails, the reticulated surrounds, the serpentine seat rails, and the beautiful cabriole legs. Like Meeks Stanton Hall pieces can be found in the Reference Book, FURNITURE OF THE 19TH CENTURY by Richard & Eileen Dubrow, pages 99, 100 112, & 118. Meeks & John Henry Belter were fierce NYC competitors.
