1900 Rococo Sofa, Heavily Gilded — Fabulous Condition. Up for your consideration is a truly spectacular sofa from the late 19th/early 20th century. The frames are heavily carved wood, with gilded floral motifs and other period-style elements, including some areas that look very Art Nouveau. Well-maintained antique condition, the frames are solid – there are some joints that show small lines of seperation, but nothing that affects the stability or useability of the piece. The cream paint and gilded areas are very good, there is some flaking to the gilding, and the front of the arms that would have received the most wear have seen some over-painting. Please note these are larger pieces than your normal sofa or settee from that era. Measurements: Outside width, measured at the front of the “arms”, as this is the widest point of the sofa: 65.5. Height at the center top of the crest: 46. Total depth, front to back: 30. The cushion is 24.5 deep at the sofa’s center. The height of the arms is 26.5. A Simply Fabulous Piece.
