This Antique Sofa originally came from England. It was brought to the USA in 2007. This Incredible Victorian Carved Mahogany (I think) Sofa with a gorgeous horses head and mane design in the back. Lots of detailed carvings from top to bottom on this period sofa. It has been in our family for over 80 years. We can trace it back to Portsmouth in the UK it had a black leather seat and was filled with horse hair. In the 1970s it was recovered by my Aunt who owned it at the time, and I had it professional re upholstered in the early 2000′s with hessian underneath. It now has a gold sateen fabric great condition. This Victorian sofa is has a beautiful presence in any room. The horses mane has a repair at the back (see photo) but the sofa is in great condition for its age. 39 inches high, 86 inches long, seat width 56 inches, seat depth 21 inches, weight unknown but pretty heavy as all Victorian furniture is, as these were built to last. MY LOSS YOUR GAIN! OTHERS SELL 3000.00 AND UP. Beautiful Italian Neoclassical Louis XVI Settee, dated: late 19. Century, decorative heavily carved crossed. Torches, finial points on top at each end. And flower buds, and beaded frame. Padded elbow rest with open rams horn arms with decorative acanthus on end of arm and below the arm support (see photos), flower buds and beaded carving surrounding the entire frame, held by turdor fluted legs. Even the legs on this one are. Heavily carved with flower at the top, acanthus leaves and ribbed column. Original white (cream) paint with gold and silver leaf patina witch is muted and so desirable with age. Condition: Expect normal wear common considering the age of the settee, nicks chipping from the gilt worn base of the feet. It was recovered at some point and there is a worn “tear” spot on the front of seat and one of the fabric seams on seat have come apart partially… (SEE PHOTO’S) This is a heavy and substantial settee. Due to the nature of the item, vintage and antiques; you should not expect it to be in perfect condition, all items are offered as is condition, final sale. AND CONDITION OF THE ITEM. When asked the style I can go with Louis XV similarities or Victorian. But what I can say for sure is this is flawless 19th century walnut just reupholstered this week by our 16 year master upholsterer. That is what makes this piece special. The walnut carvings and everything about it is flawless that is why we reupholstered it right away. As you can see its gorgeous. Our upholstery prices can not be beaten. No chips, repairs, scratches, dings or flaws and the upholstery is less than a week old. It measures 60″ long X 27″ wide X 36 1/2 high.
