Incredible Victorian sofa with carved pomegranates. Excellent seat comfort (no soft spots). Fabric is a plush velvet in a beautiful deep vivid red. Upholstered with tiny handmade nails — NO staples on velvet surface (only to attach underside fabric). Exterior fabric is the REAL THING. Underside has newer upholstered fine grey mesh fabric, so not certain whether the cushion interior has ever been replaced, but it’s very clean and well done. You could easily have thyis reupholstered if the noted flaws are bothersome. (see images 7-9) what looks like nail scratches in fabric seat; what looks like small light paint splatter on right arm rest and outer side of couch with a tiny nick in the leg; spot on left arm rest. There is also a very small spot on cushion toward the backrest, and a small 1/2 area where velvet nap changes direction (slight indent) on backside of sofa toward wall. Price reflects these flaws. In the Christian world, the fruit is associated with the Virgin Mary as meaning eternal life as well as a reference to Dooms Day. Weddings, baptisms and birthday are typical occasions where the pomegranate makes an appearance during the celebration as a drink, food or present to the guest of honor(s). The only negative meaning that seems to be associated with the pomegranate is war due to the core shape of the fruit resembling a grenade. Will consider REASONABLE OFFERS.
