This gorgeous set has been under my care since my Grandmothers passing in 1991 in my pet and smoke-free home. It is with great sorrow that I offer this for sale. According to family sources, the furniture was brought over from England by my great-great grandparents in the 1800′s. This may not accurately depict stated region of origin, but it gives some clue as to it’s rich family history. Medallion Back Sofa with castors on all legs. Two Chairs with castors on front legs. Two oval side tables with Italian marble tops – 28″H x 17″W x 23D. Oval center table with Italian marble top – 16″H x 23 1/2″W x 33 1/2D. My Grandmother had these professionally recovered in the 1960s by Otto Schoeps in Hempstead, NY. The set is in very good condition for it’s age, however it is not perfect, which adds to it’s charm. The sofa shows slight wear in the seating fabric as it was used the most. The chairs are in great condition with the exception of a repair on one noted below. There is separation on the bottom of the sofa shown in pictures. I have chosen not to repair to maintain originality of the last restoration (there are no rips or tears in the seating area so a complete recover should not be necessary). The springs on the sofa appear to be sagging and caused the issue. I have not been using the sofa as to prevent further damage. There is a portion on one chair where the carved top was repaired (6th photo left side), so a portion of the carving was removed. This was probably done when the restoration was performed in the 60s. My belief is the entire set was touched up at that time. There is a portion on the back of the love seat that is chipped but was refinished and only visible from behind. Some dings around the legs but nothing real bad. Nothing appears to be wrong structurally. If I’ve missed anything, it means it is not very noticeable. If you want to split the set afterwards to recoup costs or to profit, that’s fine and out of my control. My ideal is to place these pieces in an appreciative home, collection or museum.
