Marvelous vintage original orange chenille tuxedo sofa with rolled arms by Stratford designs a division of Futorian Manufacturing Company. Comprised of tuxedo frame, rolled arms, 3 back & 2 arm ground foam filled cushions, 1 foam bench seat cushion with button detail, 2 arm covers, and round tapered brown plastic legs. Beautiful condition, keeping in mind that this is vintage and not new so will have signs of use and wear even if it has been refinished or restored. Specifically, a small tear in the back of the sofa has been repaired at some point and the sofa has been professionally cleaned. It also has small signs of wear to the fabric which only add to its charm. Please see photos, zoom in for details, and see long description as they are part of the condition report. We attempt to portray any imperfections. In the case of this sofa, orange is DEFINITELY the new black!!! Is a fabulous vintage sofa by Stratford Designs wearing its original orange velvety chenille fabric. It is comprised of a tuxedo style frame with rolled arms, three back cushions and two side or arm cushions, all zippered and filled with ground foam, and a cozy foam filled bench seat cushion with marvelous button detail. It has two arm covers and round tapered brown plastic legs behind the base skirt. The fabric bears an all-over “perfectly imperfect” wear as you would expect with a vintage piece. We love it and would use it as is for a long time, however, some may wish to reupholster. Just imagine the limitless fabric possibilities!! One of the greatest assets this sofa bears is its incredibly comfortable single bench cushion! Yes, it’s attractive but it’s quite possibly the PERFECT napping couch!!! No pesky cushion cracks to fall between!! It is Modern in style, but it will blend in beautifully with many décor styles whether Mid-Century Modern, Industrial, Minimalist, Maximalist, or Hollywood Regency! Can’t you just see it in your family room, living room, or flanking the fireplace in the study? Morris Futorian came to the United States from the Ukraine with his sister and parents in 1923 as a fifteen-year-old young man. They lived in Chicago where he spent time beside his father at the Glabman Bros. Furniture where he swept floors while learning the trade and eventually becoming a foreman, until the Great Depression in 1934 rendered him and his family jobless. That sparked an interest in entrepreneurship and starting his own company. He began repairing broken furniture in his neighborhood to make ends meet. On September 13, 1948, Morris Futorian opened a single-story furniture production plant in New Albany, Mississippi he called The Stratford Company. He would transform the furniture industry with his introduction to an assembly line for furniture manufacturing. They created high quality furniture with mass assembly and eventually the plant would double. Creating thousands of jobs. And would assist to evolve many other companies. He was inspired to the assembly line by a visit he made to a Detroit automobile assembly plant where he became intrigued as to why furniture couldn’t be made the same way. He would later be known as “The Henry Ford” of the upholstered furniture industry. Futorian built a massively successful empire and is in the American Furniture Hall of Fame. Morris Futorian retired in 1981 and he passed away in 1994. Supreme comfort, superb Stratford Design style, and a classic presence you are sure to love for years to come! ORIGINAL and VERY RARE, HARD TO FIND! 1940-50s Mid Century Modular Sectional Couch/Sofa by STRATFORD local p/u. A Mid-Century Modern three piece sectional sofa made by’STRATFORD’. Very Hard to find such an awesome sectional sofa. Fabric is or appears to be a very unique black and gold string Boucle and is coarse. The pattern has slight wear from gentle average holiday use. Couldn’t find that exact fabric anywhere. The “cambric” material has tears under the end sofas (easily repairable or covered over). Solidly built, with no frame damage. The seat cushions were very recently replaced with new foam. The back has a stiffer feel than the new seat foam. Its clean lines, geometric shape, low slung seating, tapered legs and very distinct look will greatly enhance or be the focal point of a room. Can be Retro/Art Deco in style. Has sat in the same smoke free home for 71 years! It has been vacuumed, maybe it could use to be steam cleaned gently. Please ask questions or will gladly message more pictures since I could only put 12 on the page. Note: The Kroehler Slipper Accent Chair has also sat in the same room and home. It is listed separately, but, hope it makes its way to the same home with the Sectional Sofa. The curved center section: 67.5″ wide, 37″ deep, and 28.5″ high, seat 21.5″. Two end sections: 43″ wide , 33″ deep, 28.5 high, seat 21. The seat heights: 15.5″ – 16″ Dimensions: 128.0W × 37.0D × 29.0H.
