Bay Colony Antiques is delighted to offer for sale this excellent 19th century antique Victorian Mahogany Neo-Classical settee. Seating like this came into fashion in the early 19th century but this was made towards the end of the 19th century in the Victorian period. The sofa has a gadrooned crest rail with acanthus leaves carved at the ends and center. The arms are finely formed with a dramatic curve and have carved dragons on the front faces. The seat rail also has a gadrooned edge that mirrors the crest and the sofa has 4 carved Lion paw feet. The upholstery was recently done over in a tasteful cream colored fabric with pink and green flowers. The upholstery is nice and clean free of any rips and holes and free of odors. The sofa is in wonderful condition with our only notes being very minimal surface wear and light finish loss to the feet. The sofa measures 57 1/2″ wide x 23″ deep x 34 3/4 tall. The seat alone measures 40″ wide at the narrowest point between the arms (42″ at bottom) x 17″ deep with a seat height of 17″.
