Beautiful antique R J Horner style carved oak and leather parlor set. Set includes a sofa/couch and chair. Both have carved griffins at the arms and clawed feet with beautiful carved crests at the backs. The sofa measures 82″ long x 39″ deep x 38 tall. The chair is 34″ wide x 39″ deep x 38 tall. Both are in wonderful antique condition with no cracks, spits or chips. The leather cushions have no major rips or tears but have cracks from normal use and age. Please view description and photos carefully. The photos count as part of the description in case I miss a visual defect in the written description. Gorgeous, lush, red velvet sofa circa mid to late 1800s with carved oak griffins on the armrest in the style of R. High, tufted back, intricate carving and velvet fabric make this a perfect mix of masculine and feminine Victorian design. Some minor marks and small stains on fabric and a couple loose buttons, griffins have some slight wear around edges. Great bones, very sturdy. Overall in good condition and can be used as is or reupholstered to match your decor. Seat feels a little springy and could be restuffed for additional comfort, but not necessary. Would look amazing redone in leather to make a fabulous, one of a kind Chesterfield style sofa! A rare and gorgeous piece of history that will suit many different decors. Measurements are as follows. 81 long x 33 deep (from back to front of armrest). 42 tall from the floor to the top of the backrest, and 26 tall from the seat cushion to the top of the backrest. We restored the entire solid carved mahogany suite to begin with to a near mint condition and meticulously button tufted the fine grade Lexus leather to a chesterfield pattern and look. The entire insides of this suite is done for appearance but more so to be comfortable, this is not your grandmas antique sofa! Our upholsterer is as good as anyone out there and takes much pride in delivering the most comfortable and stylish feel you can get. This is a superb 3 piece suite made by either RJ Horner of NY or Karpen brothers of Chicago, not sure which but who cares its awesome.
