This sofa is in lovely fully restored condition, quite simple and understated by design however if you look closely it has nice detailing, the cabriolet legs are hand carved with Acanthus leaf detailing to the top, the brass stud work is all individually hand tacked, there’s no cheap chain link studding to be found here, the leather upholstery is thick and soft to touch. The frame is fully coil sprung, what that means is not only is the seat platform a traditional Victorian affair but the back is as well making these chairs very comfortable, usually seating from this era just have padding in this area, this sofa has the same kind of coil springs you find in high end mattresses, if you look at one of the pictures from the back you can see the springs pressing on the leather. The sofa has been fully restored to include having the old colour stripped back, it has then been hand dyed and antiqued this lovely deep dark tobacco brown colour, the legs have been stained and polished.
