George Smith Chelsea make some of the finest hand made in England sofas based on traditional English designs. The sofa is made from beech wood and has a Victorian style coil sprung base and feather filled back and base cushions. The cushions are fully upholstered on both sides so should the worse happen and you stain one side you can simply flip it over. Condition wise the sofa has been professionally upholstery cleaned, there are some marks here and there, some wear to the piping, the sofa is good to go as it is however it would make a great upholstery project. Seat height:- 57cm. Please note all measurements are taken at the widest point, if you would like any additional or specific measurements please ask. This item is available for collection from our Wimbledon warehouses SW19-3BE, we can have it delivered nationwide to include Scotland Wales and Ireland. There are around 50-100 high definition super-sized pictures at the bottom of the page. This sofa is a rare model, its fully sprung on the front panel which sits behind your legs, this panel is usually a solid piece of timber and can be quite stiff when you sit down, on this its as mentioned sprung. What this means is this sofa is actually very comfortable, especially when you add feather filled cushions on top, most normal Chesterfields are really quite a stiff affair, not this little diamond. The sofa has been lightly restored to include a deep clean hand condition wax and polish, the finish is period correct and looks lovely. It can be fully restored to include having the dark brown stripped out then hand dyed a rich warm cigar brown colour with vintage shading all over, for a price please ask. ITEM: A beautiful 1940-50s rattan sofa with thick orange Naugahyde vinyl cushions in a Art Deco tropical Asian design style. Note: Also, I have the matching end tables to this sofa. See my other items if interested. FEATURES: Three thick 6″ vinyl w metal innerspring seat cushions with a solid oak frame inside that are still comfortable and firm and three 5″ vinyl back cushions. The cushions were made to last… The orange Naugahyde fabric is thick and the cotton fill is also thick and comfortable. A solid rattan frame that is nailed and hand tied at joints and corners with reed and metal joint supports. The base features a oak inner frame for the seat cushions. This sofa was made to last… Its structurally a strong and sound piece. DIAMENSIONS: Sofa: 63L x 32D x 30H Seat height: 16. MANUFACTURE : Unknown, but very well constructed. A high end sofa that’s better quality than Ficks Reed or Mcquire pieces. CONDITION: Overall the sofa is in good vintage condition. The sofa frame in great shape w light wear. Its structurally solid, nothing lose. Overall, the vinyl cushions are average condition, they do have a 2 – 3″ tears in one seat cushion and a 10″ tear in another seat cushion and a hole. They are currently taped. The three back cushions are in good condition with no tears or holes. The tears n holes can be repaired or replaced with new vinyl.
