There is around 50-100 high definition super-sized pictures at the bottom of this page. The sofa is upholstered with thick premium 100% cattle hide untreated plain russet leather originally, this method of upholstery is substantially more expensive than using predyed leather, you can still have the best English Chesterfields made in this manor today. The way you can tell the piece is an original hand dyed Chesterfield is by pulling back the folds of leather, in the crease you will see the natural colour of the hide, these sofas are made with plain leather and then hand dyed to the customers specific colour choice, no two pieces are ever exactly the same and this process goes back hundreds of years. All in all this is basically the best of the best colour patina and finish wise, if youre looking for the best then look no further! We have deep cleaned hand condition waxed and hand polished the sofa from top to bottom, there has been one small repair to the left are where was a small L shaped rip, its pretty much. And just looks like a leather crease, otherwise its perfect for the age and period. Gio Ponti style, Italian, mid century, 5 pc, woven, sofa and club chairs

This is an incredible 5 piece set of Italian furniture from the late 1940′s – early 1950′s. It was chosen as part of the exclusive House of Italian Handicrafts collection -NYC. This was a group of prominent designers including Walter Dorwin Teague, museums, etc who went to Italy to chose the cream of Italian design and market it in the USA. They had exhibits in museums, galleries etc. Some of the designers they found and helped establish were Gambone, Mollino, Ponti, Lacca, Arte Luce, Fantoni, etc, etc. The House of Italian Handicrafts traveled around Italy and visited with designers and workshops. They chose the best of the best to import to the USA to help promote Italian design after the war. I have included some pages from the original 1950 book that explains in detail, with many pics, the mission of the House of Italian Handicrafts. We just removed this from the original owners home. This set is original and retains some paper labels from the HOIH. From the book it appears to be designed by Luigi Cosenza. The set in the book is pictured on a Gambone tile floor. This set is solid and in very good usable condition. The armless piece does need new rush seating. This is a super rare set that is low and rakish. It is stamped Italy. Each piece is 24 wide x 26 1/2 deep x 28 high back x 14 high seat x 22 high arm. A very rare find, I never come across original sets of four pieces from this era and especially not the fully buttoned sets. We have fully restored the suite and it is in better than retail new condition throughout, not bad for something over 70 years old. The restoration has been extensive, my leather polishers have stripped out the old faded colour, they have then hand dyed each piece this lovely whiskey brown colour, the chair and sofa have had new vintage antiqued castors fitted, both chairs new hessian base covers which have been hand nailed in place using antique nails. This is the finest set of this type you will find anywhere, its true library set which is a wingback armchair with foot stool and club sofa and armchair. The club sofa and chair are rare, they have the slightly elongated seat platform which protrudes one row of buttons deeper on the seat base, great for the taller generation or those who want to use the seats with cushions as well. The frames are fully coil sprung in the tradition of the Victorian pieces. Height:- 72.5cm. Fully Restored Deep Brown Leather Chesterfield Club Sofa Carved Wood Leaf Legs

There are around 50-100 high definition super-sized pictures at the bottom of this page. This sofa is in lovely fully restored condition, quite simple and understated by design however if you look closely it has nice detailing, the cabriolet legs are hand carved with Acanthus leaf detailing to the top, the brass stud work is all individually hand tacked, there’s no cheap chain link studding to be found here, the leather upholstery is thick and soft to touch. The frame is fully coil sprung, what that means is not only is the seat platform a traditional Victorian affair but the back is as well making these chairs very comfortable, usually seating from this era just have padding in this area, this sofa has the same kind of coil springs you find in high end mattresses, if you look at one of the pictures from the back you can see the springs pressing on the leather. The sofa has been fully restored to include having the old colour stripped back, it has then been hand dyed and antiqued this lovely deep dark tobacco brown colour, the legs have been stained and polished. There are around 50-100 high definition super-sized pictures at the bottom of this page. This suite is absolute eye candy from every angle, it is Edwardian with the original leather hide which is very thick, the leather is in fully restored condition throughout, the colour had faded, it has been hand dyed this lovely Whiskey brown colour. The frames are solid mahogany, hand made and finished with brass castors, the stud work is all symmetrical and makes up the decoration. Condition wise the timber frames have been checked and are perfect, the leather has been hand dyed, the suite has horse hair padding throughout, I’ve had made all new cushions out of premium russet hide, they have then been hand dyed to match the suite, the cushions are full leather on both sides so if the worse should happen and you damage one side you can simply flip the cushion over, the back section has vented air holes so the goose feather filled can breath and self plums to a certain degree, its very important to have good ventilation with feather cushions. One of the best looking and most charming sofas I have ever seen, the cushions are lightly feather filled and very comfortable, the backs are fully sprung so again very comfortable. The leather is heritage hide so has a lovely patina, the pillared arms are fantastic, I have never seen such sculpture on a sofa. Maple & Co Antique Furniture 1870 1950.
