Antique Art Nouveau Mahogany Settee With Figural Carvings Attributed Rj Horner

The settee has a three splat back with graceful scrollings at the top and a nice serpentine crest rail that accentuates the fluidity of the overall design. The front legs have carved lion paw feet which were well executed, but not an overly ambitious design.

Exceptionally crafted Victorian Sofa. This sturdy and beautiful piece has great detail work. The top, sides, and feet are hand carved. The front frame has several curves with a dark wood veneer. The veneer has a wonderful central medallion and a double row of beading on the top and bottom. The beige fabric is yellowed from sun exposure. The wood is in excellent overall condition with only one or two minor blemishes. See all the pictures. The sofa is missing one caster. Walnut Victorian Triple Back Sofa Settee Laurel Wreath Carvings

Offered for sale is a Walnut Victorian Triple Back Sofa circa1875. Solid walnut and burl, the three section back is topped in the center with a carved medallion while each end features a laurel wreath. The sections are also divided open carvings. Slightly rounded arms end in incised carved supports. Each end of the seat curves out, with the center dips in. The seat rail offers incised and drop carvings. The sofa is supported by turned legs. This is a solid sofa with no apologies I can detectonly normal usage wear for its age. The earth toned fabric is clean, no tears or holes and really compliments the beauty of the walnut. 22 inches deep at each end 20 inches deep in the middle. 15 inches seat to floor. Please remember that vintage items and antiques are treasures that have been lived with and loved for generations and will show signs of that love and use having minor imperfections and maybe a repair, which means the item has been loved and cherished for many, many years.
