Antique American Federal Mahogany Empire Style Sofa Circa 1820. A superb American late Federal period mahogany sofa in the Empire style, New York, Circa 1820. The sofa is 7’8″ long by 26″ deep by 32 high. Floor to seat height is 14. The sofa features wonderfully carved hairy paw feet with wings and graceful out swept arms, with a reeded front edge. It has recently been upholstered and the upholstery is in excellent condition. There are no bolster pillows unfortunately, and the padding on the seat is rather sparse. It should have had another two or three inches of padding built up on the seat when it was re-upholstered. It would be nice with one long cushion in our opinion. The sofa frame does have some damage and needs some restoration. On the left side bottom there is a break and there are two breaks on the back of the left side. Please see all photos. We do offer restoration services. Guaranteed to be as described. Please do not ask us to do so. Offered for your consideration is a wonderful American Victorian settee with matching rocker. Lightly hand-carved of walnut in the style of Charles Lock Eastlake, both pieces are topped with a gorgeous burl walnut veneer. This set has been restored by a conservator at some time in its history. There’s light staining to the armrests of the rocker, but the restoration is in excellent condition otherwise. We have not attempted to clean the fabric. A few character marks are visible beneath the wood stain, but nothing is present that detracts from its beauty. The underside of each piece has been covered with the same fabric as the top, but one can feel by hand that the original springs have been re-tied. Both pieces are sturdy and provide a comfort level best described as medium firm. The settee measures 50 inches wide at the outer edge of each gently curving arm, 40 inches high, and the seat is 15 inches high. The rocker stands 40 inches high, is 24 inches wide overall, and is 33 inches deep. Please call or message with your zipcode.
