Included is an authentic Paul Frankl designed Bamboo Rattan, 3 seater sofa. Similar furniture was in the movie’The Godfather’ which is why it’s called Godfather furniture. It has a classic Art Deco look with ten strands of bamboo rods and pretzel arms. Ten strands, or bamboo rods, are more rare than the standard 7 strand sets. Includes new floral cushion covers over the original brocade fabric, one seat cushion is missing the original brocade. There is a label which reads: Modern Rattan Furniture Maker, Hong Kong. Paul Frankl came to the US from Vienna with a fresh perspective and enthusiasm for creating a uniquely American Design aesthetic. Many of the Hollywood Elite people enjoyed lounging poolside in his very comfortable, biomorphic furniture. His revolutionary designs are as popular today as they were in the 1930s. Paul Frankl was born in 1886 and died in 1958. An Architect, he had a studio in New York City, and moved to California. The sofa is in excellent condition with period wear and patina, consistent with age and use. Some of the 1/4 rattan wrap is missing. Very sturdy and strong.
