Exceptionally crafted Victorian Sofa. This sturdy and beautiful piece has great detail work. The top, sides, and feet are hand carved. The front frame has several curves with a dark wood veneer. The veneer has a wonderful central medallion and a double row of beading on the top and bottom. The beige fabric is yellowed from sun exposure. The wood is in excellent overall condition with only one or two minor blemishes. See all the pictures. The sofa is missing one caster. Mid Century Art Deco Danish Mint Green Velour 2.5 Seat’Banana’ Sofa 1930s 40s

Designer: Danish Art Deco Design. Material: Velour with Beech wood frame. Maximum Dimensions: Width 174cm, Depth 98cm, Height 73cm, Seat Height 38cm and Seat Depth 47cm. Condition: Very Good with the only real sign of age being a small tear repair to the Velour on the seat base (see image). Description: An elegant Danish Art Deco 2.5 seat’Banana’ sofa. The sofa is upholstered in a Mint Green coloured Velour fabric, with subtle contrasting piping around the edges and seat base, and deep ribbed detailing to the backrest. The sofa is generously sized for a 2 seat sofa, but a little to cosy to comfortably be a 3 seat sofa, hence the’2.5′. The frame features a beautiful inward curve giving the piece its’Banana’ shape. Like the majority of all Danish Art Deco pieces, the sofa is raised upon a heavy Beech wood frame with a coil sprung base, with all springs intact and working perfectly. The Sofa also sits upon two turned Beech feet to the front and two block feet to the rear. All items are for sale elsewhere, so may be removed at any time. George Smith Chelsea make some of the finest hand made in England sofas based on traditional English designs. There sofas come in three depths, this is the middle depth. The sofa is made from solid oak and has a Victorian style coil sprung base and overstuffed feather filled cushions. The castors are brass which gives the piece a very contemporary look and feel. The sofa is in good lightly used condition throughout, there may be the odd little mark here or there but mostly its a very fine piece indeed and exceptionally comfortable. Depth:- 102cm frame only, 107cm including the cushion overhang. Please note all measurements are taken at the widest point, if you would like any additional or specific measurements please ask.
