We are thrilled to offer for sale this gorgeous American Empire sofa circa 1840. A round crest-rail features carves leaves at each end. The center of each arm is beautiful feathered mahogany. The arm supports are also beautifully carved. Large paw feet support the sofa front and back. The fabric is in excellent condition with no spots, rips or holes. The sofa itself is solid and sturdy. One back foot has a repair which appears to be solid(photo 3)there always seems to be an apology with this stuff. Made of Solid Mahogany, the lounge features a double scroll back with a center rosette. The head of the lounge is formed with a cornucopia style arm carved with leaves and scrolling. An Eagle head decorated the seat rail. Carved paws serve as front feet, while the back are turned. The low end offers a large foliage carved disc. Solid, this lounge is in excellent condition. I do see what looks to be a repair on the high arm, barely noticeable and I don’t think an issue(photo 8 up toward the curve). The fabric is more recent, it does show some fading and has a few spots. This is a fantastic Recamier, but imagine it covered in a rich fabric. Measurements: 34.5 inches high 21.5 inches wide 84 inches long 18 inches seat to floor.
