Mid-century cowboy / dude ranch style sleeper sofa and rocking chair. I believe these date to the 1950′s possibly 60′s. Both are in sturdy shape; could be further restored but impressive condition for their age; used but not abused. The chair rocks and the couch ratchet system works smoothly. The faux leather seats have a few compression dents but no surface rips; the emblems are in beautiful condition. The chair depth is 29″ / width is 28″ / and the height is 32″ The sofa depth is 29″ / width is 81″ / and the height is 30″ Measurements are approximate due the backs being angled. Mid Century Cowboy Western Wagon Wheel Convertible DudeRanch Sofa

Fabulous mid-century cowboy western wagon wheel convertible sofa reminiscent of a 1950s dude ranch. It is in wonderful vintage condition. There is a small repaired spot in the vinyl of the back, but the cowboy, horse, and steer appliques are in perfect condition. The vinyl of the seat has two larger repaired spots as does the seat apron left corner, and you may wish to reupholster just the seat in a contrasting or complementing vinyl or fabric. The wood is in great shape. When I look at this sofa it takes me back to every Saturday morning of my childhood watching Roy Rogers or The Lone Ranger! I imagine every dude ranch in the western states having one of these. Or many a mid-century family room or basement rec room! This one is comprised of those fab wagon wheel arms and has the most incredible applique of a cowboy riding his faithful steed and roping a longhorn steer. What more could you want? Oh, yes, a convertible sofa and thats what you have here; the back lowers to provide a sofa sleeper. Luckily, the back with all the western cowboy detail is in great shape as are the wagon wheel arms. But then, herein lies the problem. There are two larger repairs to the vinyl of the seat top left end and one to the seat skirt left corner. I could live with It; but some of you wont be able to do so. However, herein lies the good newsthe seat could be reupholstered in a nice bright red to match part of the applique or in a complementary brown blending with the tan of the background of the sofa back. Incredible Ranch Oak western style sofa attributed to A. This sofa is in wonderful vintage condition with the original wood finish and wildly floral upholstery. The upholstery fabric is in nice condition and could be used; however, the foam in the seat cushions is beginning to get a little hard on the top from age. Fortunately, the cushion covers have a zipper and the foam could be replaced. The back padding must be a different material as it has remained soft. All that being said, in my humble opinion, it needs to be reupholstered in a stunning new fabric. This sofa is a really interesting and incredible find! It is comprised of the dark Ranch Oak finish frame with bowtie shaped keyhole sides and wonderful tapered flat arms. Its original wildly floral fabric is either incredibly wonderful or perfectly ugly!!! Whether it is wonderful or ugly to you, it is in terrific condition and could be used. It has rusty orange or burnt orange flowers and olive-green leaves with the surprise of a turquoise or teal colored hydrangea blossom here and there. Although this sofa does not have the A. Brandt Ranch Oak tag, I have seen identical sofas and chairs with the A. Brandt tag, so our attribution is solid information. Brandt Company was established in 1900 but the Ranch Oak furniture debuted in Fort Worth, Texas in 1938 and continued until the mid-1980s. They were used in ranch homes, mountain homes, dude ranches, and basement rec rooms across the nation. This sofa with its extra high back and semi-attached buttoned back cushions is very comfortable and will be perfect in your western styled home or cabin or your industrial country loft.
