Antique & Vintage furniture Wimbledon 07850 890032. As seen retailing here. If you like quality seating then this is just about as fine as you will find anywhere. The base is coil sprung, coil springs are hand tied eight times each, hessian padded supported and strapped, this is the traditional English method of making quality sofa bases going back hundreds of years. You usually sit directly on a coil base because its so comfortable but in this instance they have added feather filled cushions, not just any feather filled cushions but the base has split panel feather filled cushions with a foam core, what that means is you have a foam centre which has been fitted to a custom made to order bag that has a panel above and below for feathers, this keeps the cushion plump, means the feathers stay exactly where they should and offers simply put the finest level of comfort. In terms of restoration we had a swatch of the leather sent to Italy for them to make an exact dye up, the sofa was then stripped back, hand dyed six times, heated and sealed, its in pretty much retail condition, there are some on scuffs along the base and back but you cant see them. Height:- 76cm from the floor to the top of the sofa frame, 85cm to the top of the cushion. In terms of restoration, the cushion that came with the sofa was leopard print upholstery, the new owner can have that as well should they wish. Ive had custom made to order and fit this oversized fully aniline leather cushion which was upholstered plain, the whole sofa and cushion were then hand dyed this rich whisky brown colour. The hide used is 100% premium heritage fully aniline leather, this type of leather is untreated and hand dyed after upholstery, the idea being a very new sofa looks like a vintage piece from day one. The leather is designed to mark so as to add to the vintage look charm and feel. If the back cushions are removed this sofa becomes the size of a large exceptionally comfortable bed.
