Rare 1952/53 Jens Risom designed sofa for Hans Knoll. This important piece is one of Risom’s first designs. Made for Hnas Knoll’s furniture company (before his wife Florence joint the design firm). Appears to be original wool beige/ivory hopsack upholstery which is hand stitched at corners. Arm design have a Hans Wegner “Papa Bear” chair vibe. This is an iconic design from a well known designer and well worth the effort to refurbish. Overall dimensions: 78 long x 31 tall x 31 depth. Structurally, wood frame in very good, sturdy condition. The metal springs in the center seat section are broken in a few places so will need repair or replacement before reupholstery. Upholstery is in good enough condition with only a couple stains and can be carefully removed and used as a pattern for reupholstery.
