George Smith Chelsea make some of the finest hand made in England sofas based on traditional English designs. The sofa is made from beech wood and has a Victorian style coil sprung base and feather filled back and base cushions. The cushions are fully upholstered on both sides so should the worse happen and you stain one side you can simply flip it over. Condition wise the sofa has been professionally upholstery cleaned, there are some marks here and there, some wear to the piping, the sofa is good to go as it is however it would make a great upholstery project. This is one of the most comfortable and finest hand made in England sofas you will ever see. It has the original hand dyed leather upholstery, the back cushions are upholstered meaning they are fixed, they are feather filled, the base cushions are also feather filled with new internal bags and feathers, they recess under the back cushion. The only antique company I know that did this was Howard & Sons. The front edge is coil sprung meaning as apposed to having a fixed timber bar you have springs, this type of platform is simply put the most expensive, complicated and comfortable platform available. We have sensitively restored the sofa as mentioned, the leather has been lightly stripped back then hand dyed this glorious cigar brown colour. The sofa has kept all its original style charm and charisma, just imagine sitting in a Mayfair gentlemans club in circa 1860, brandy in one hand cigar in the other, an amazing time. This piece is in lovely order throughout, the leather is designed to look 100+ years old from new, its hand dyed six times and aged to give it this wonderful gentlemans club look and feel. There are around 50-100 high definition super-sized pictures at the bottom of the page. This sofa is a rare model, its fully sprung on the front panel which sits behind your legs, this panel is usually a solid piece of timber and can be quite stiff when you sit down, on this its as mentioned sprung. What this means is this sofa is actually very comfortable, especially when you add feather filled cushions on top, most normal Chesterfields are really quite a stiff affair, not this little diamond. The sofa has been lightly restored to include a deep clean hand condition wax and polish, the finish is period correct and looks lovely. It can be fully restored to include having the dark brown stripped out then hand dyed a rich warm cigar brown colour with vintage shading all over, for a price please ask. Antique French Louis XV Style Recamier / Chaise Lounge with ottoman, Fainting Chair in GREAT CONDITION. Obviously has been recovered probably in the 80s judging by the look at the fabric. I believe cushions are down filled with fiber fill stitched over. Early to Mid Century I believe. Vintage Antique Fainting couch chaise sofa Setee with Ottoman. Although they look like a pair I do not believe that these are identical as there are different feet on the couch and ottoman. The feet themselves are very ornate and detailed.
