1960s Mid Century Modern Sofa Attributed to Hans Wegner for Getama / Walnut Trim

We offer a 1960s era sofa attributed to Hans Wegner for the Danish furniture company Getama. The fully upholstered sofa is cantilevered on square walnut legs braced with similar stretchers across the front, back and sides. A curved walnut trim frames the elevated base of the sofa. The sofa features a single boxed seat cushion with three boxed back cushions. The sofa measures 96″ in total length, 32″ in depth, and measures 27 in height to the back. The arm height is 22. The seat height is 17″ and the deck height is 12 1/2″. The seat cushion measures 89 in length. The sofa is covered in a dark green woven fabric. The sofa is in overall very good vintage condition with a minor pulled thread here or there and some minor sun fading to the base of the legs as seen in the photographs. The sofa comes from the estate of Caroline Dowell. Caroline Dowell was an Austin, Texas philanthropist and dog-lover. She cared for over fifty show and rescue dogs, favoring beagles. In 2008, her beagle, Uno, won the Westminster Kennel Club dog show marking the first time a beagle ever won Best of Show. Uno became the first Westminster winner to visit the White House, with George W. Bush and wife Laura meeting him in the Rose Garden. Uno rode on Snoopy’s float in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade and took part in first-pitch ceremonies at Busch Stadium and Miller Park. Uno also visited Walter Reed National Medical Center and hospitals across the country as a certified therapy dog before retiring on Caroline’s two hundred acre ranch. We have a pair available of these wonderful vintage plaid sofas. These are 2 pieces exactly the same. They are very Kagan/ Baughman style but do not have any tags or way to identify them. Being offered for sale is this Outstanding 3 Piece Carved Solid Mahogany ART NOUVEAU Figural Cherubs/ Angel Heads Parlor Set with carved Paw Feet Attributed to Karpen Furniture, Chicago, Ill Circa 1910. This beautiful parlor set appears to have its original finish and features a plethora of detailed, elegant carvings with all the front feet being carved paw feet. The crest of each piece has a carved Cherub or Angle Head at the center. The vintage fabric does show wear especially on the chairs and needs to be replaced to match your color scheme for your décor. This sets is solid and sturdy and in fantastic antique condition. There is a chip to one of the leaves on the right arm of the armchair which I have shown a close up picture of. We are pleased to offer this very rare museum quality Herter Brothers attributed 7 Piece Parlor Suite from an historic victorian mansion in Detroit, Michigan. Herter Brothers was the foremost American firm in the production of high-quality Renaissance Revival and Aesthetic Movement furniture. Gustave emigrated from Wurttemberg in 1848, and already owned what was a leading cabinet-making and interior decorating company by the time he was joined by Christian in 1859. Christian became a full partner in what became Herter Brothers in 1864, after which the firm’s business greatly expanded. Despite this, Christian spent some time in France in 1868-9, and in 1870 went to England. The firm took advantage of the Herters’ European training and knowledge of style there to create cosmopolitan interiors and furniture for clients all over the United States, and even in England, as their business developed. Incredible Ranch Oak western style sofa attributed to A. This sofa is in wonderful vintage condition with the original wood finish and wildly floral upholstery. The upholstery fabric is in nice condition and could be used; however, the foam in the seat cushions is beginning to get a little hard on the top from age. Fortunately, the cushion covers have a zipper and the foam could be replaced. The back padding must be a different material as it has remained soft. All that being said, in my humble opinion, it needs to be reupholstered in a stunning new fabric. This sofa is a really interesting and incredible find! It is comprised of the dark Ranch Oak finish frame with bowtie shaped keyhole sides and wonderful tapered flat arms. Its original wildly floral fabric is either incredibly wonderful or perfectly ugly!!! Whether it is wonderful or ugly to you, it is in terrific condition and could be used. It has rusty orange or burnt orange flowers and olive-green leaves with the surprise of a turquoise or teal colored hydrangea blossom here and there. Although this sofa does not have the A. Brandt Ranch Oak tag, I have seen identical sofas and chairs with the A. Brandt tag, so our attribution is solid information. Brandt Company was established in 1900 but the Ranch Oak furniture debuted in Fort Worth, Texas in 1938 and continued until the mid-1980s. They were used in ranch homes, mountain homes, dude ranches, and basement rec rooms across the nation. This sofa with its extra high back and semi-attached buttoned back cushions is very comfortable and will be perfect in your western styled home or cabin or your industrial country loft.
