Offered for your consideration is one of the most striking pieces of 1970s design: the de sede DS600 “non stop” modular sofa. This particular example features rich and supple dark brown leather comprised of 20 elements. As you can see in the photos, the sofa can be twisted and turned so that it can be configured in a number of different positions, accommodating spaces of varying shapes and scales. It can also be broken down and made into a smaller sofas if desired. The sofa is in very nice original condition. The leather has a nice patina after 40+ years of age, but looks great. There are smalls areas of wear on each armrest as you can see in the photos, otherwise there are no condition issues to note beyond ordinary aging. No rips or tears. The craftsmen there committed themselves to transforming the best possible leather into seating furniture. Their years of experience and diligence enabled them to create hand-crafted leather furniture of singular quality. In 1965, the family-run business became a joint-stock company called de Sede AG, but remained faithful to their original guiding principles. The company developed rapidly from this moment onwards: top designers of international calibre were brought on board to create seating furniture, additional manufacturing facilities were opened, and an international distribution network was established. Sophisticated designs that skilfully integrate traditional and precise Swiss workmanship swiftly gained the brand an international reputation. Out of the original small workshop, a company has emerged that employs over 120 people and distributes furniture in more than 40 countries, including the United States and Russia, the GCC countries, and even emerging markets such as China and Brazil. De Sede is owned by Oel-Pool and Monika Walser, who has led de Sede since April 2014. Main shareholder of Oel-Pool is Daniel Sieber. Very good condition with minor spots.
