There are around 50-100 high definition super-sized pictures at the bottom of the page. The sofa has been fully restored to include having the old colour stripped out, its then been hand dyed this glorious cigar brown colour, which is exclusive to my leather polishers. The seat platform has been completed rewebbed, tightened and secured so its good to go for another hundred or so years. The padding is all original horse hair filled so it has that great crunch. The legs are solid walnut and have been custom made specially for this frame, they come with 8mm axles so the can be unscrewed for ease of transport. Depth:- 92.5cm. Cornelius V Smith Chesterfield sofa. The condition is fabulous for the age, genuinely 10/10, it has the original horse hair filling, the base platform is a coil sprung affair, the front edge which is sprung has been opened check and then sealed by a Victorian upholstery trained professional, the upholstery was new around four months ago and the work was completed by a third generation Victorian trained upholsterer. The front panel is sprung as apposed to having a solid piece of timber, these sprung front edges are simply put only found the most luxury period original Chesterfields, its exceptionally expensive and complicated to construct this kind of platform and is pretty much the only way these sofas are comfortable. A very rare find, I never come across original sets of four pieces from this era and especially not the fully buttoned sets. We have fully restored the suite and it is in better than retail new condition throughout, not bad for something over 70 years old. The restoration has been extensive, my leather polishers have stripped out the old faded colour, they have then hand dyed each piece this lovely whiskey brown colour, the chair and sofa have had new vintage antiqued castors fitted, both chairs new hessian base covers which have been hand nailed in place using antique nails. This is the finest set of this type you will find anywhere, its true library set which is a wingback armchair with foot stool and club sofa and armchair. The club sofa and chair are rare, they have the slightly elongated seat platform which protrudes one row of buttons deeper on the seat base, great for the taller generation or those who want to use the seats with cushions as well. The frames are fully coil sprung in the tradition of the Victorian pieces. Height:- 72.5cm. The upholstery is very good and does not need to be reupholstered.
