Gorgeous vintage mid-century modern turquoise Lawson style 4 cushion sofa attributed to Milo Baughman for James Inc. Comprised of four loose zippered seat cushions, six tapered walnut legs, and turquoise hopsacking fabric with back button detail. This piece has been attributed based upon archived research including online sources, vintage documentation and catalogs, designer literature, and other materials. Beautiful condition, keeping in mind that this is vintage and not new so will have signs of use and wear. The sofa deck has new fabric plus a new dust cover. It also has its original arm covers. We repaired a button with fabric found on bottom. It has been professionally shampooed. The foam in the cushions is soft, however it could use some more padding and new zippers. It has four loose seat cushions with soft foam, but they could benefit from a bit more padding which would be easily achieved as they have zippers. And the four-cushion feature gives it an extra-long width, so a taller person can stretch out nicely. This marvelous blue beauty stands on six rounded walnut tapered legs and is ready to make a statement in your home with its mid-century modern magnificence! Milo Baughman, a 20th Century genius of design, was born in Western Kansas in 1923 but was moved a year later by his family to Long Beach, California. He created Milo Baughman Design Inc. In 1947 and began designing interiors and furniture. One of the most remarkable partnerships in the mid-century modern to modern design world was the phenomenal furniture making duo of Milo Baughman and Thayer Coggin. During Milo Baughman’s career and before his death in 2003. He did design for several other iconic companies as well as his own such as James Inc. MID-CENTURY WALNUT “TUXEDO” SOFA BY LANE. United States, circa 1960s; retaining early and probably original upholstery Item # 208YXK18P. A very nice mid-century sofa from Lane’s highly sought-after “Tuxedo” line still retaining a wonderful early woven tween upholstery, it features sleek square lines with the two sections of cushions situated over a solid walnut frame and angular tapered legs. It is incredibly comfortable and solid, built to last the test of time for decades to come. We may still have available in our inventory the pair of matching end tables with their iconic bowtie steel hardware. Measurements: 92″ W x 30 3/8″ H x 18″ H to seat x 33″ D. Condition Report: Upholstery is early and probably original with some light fading from sun exposure – this is a bit more notable on the back, where there is a faint outline where neck throws were likely in place at some point. Early Modern Teak & Leather Sofa, needs some re-upholstery, Scandinavian. An elegant beauty that is showing some age. Our mom used this sofa daily for 55+ years, it’s tough as well as elegant. The leather cushions show some wear but the leather is all intact still on them. Each cushion has a zipper for easy removal of the leather cover. The cloth upholstery of the body of the sofa seat, under the seat cushions, is starting to shred, some foam and springs showing, and needs to be re-upholstered. There are scratches near the bottoms of the legs, and three parallel scratches about 1/4 inch long on the L arm. The back of the sofa is black leather as well, and is intact, though separating along the top edge where it was sewn to the leather covering the front face of the sofa back, where the three back cushions rest. On the left arm, held in place by a bit of blue painters tape (see photo) there is a 2 inch long piece that was knocked out during the last move and needs to be glued back in place. A Sculpted Gold Fabric Settee Sofa Designed by Russel Wright for Thonet, Untied States, c. This Settee would look exceptional while displayed in a Mid-Century inspired interior. The solid beech wood arms are nicely sculpted and flows seamlessly into the angled legs, this was a amongst Russel Wright’s most iconic styles and often refereed to as “Thick Thonet” in today’s culture. The settee displays its original gold upholstered fabric with a lovely center seam. The upholstery is in good condition with only little discoloration from age. The spring seat bottom offers great support and is quite comfortable to be seated on. The underside of the settee is unsigned or marked. Condition: This Settee was exceptionally well made, it’s both solid and sturdy. Mild discoloration can be seen to the upholstery as well as surface scratches along the bottom of the legs and upon the top of the arm rests. This piece is in overall good condition.
