A very unique design by Jules Heumann for Metropolitan Furniture of San Francisco Ca. This 1960s sofa suspends from a solid oak frame and appears to float in suspension. A unique hidden iron system ties the back bar to the sofa and a sling ties it all in laterally. Refinished in white boucle fabric. The oak frame with impressive through tenon joinery and angled joints. No design element was skipped on this rare design. A unique sofa for the discerning collector. Would work well with designs from Tobia Scarpa, Knoll, Edward Wormley, Vladimir Kagan and Robsjohn Gibbings. Dimensions: 99.5″W x 32.5″D x 31″H SH18″. Condition: Newly upholstered in white boucle. Frame showing some tiny scratches and small nicks with original finish.
