This settee was fully refurbished around 1993 by my parents. All in all, I think the condition is pretty good (no damaged fabric). The only necessary repairs are for the arched frame, stain removal, and the hanging lace that needs to be glued back onto the frame. Unfortunately I cannot find any manufacturing markers, tags, labels, or carvings. Everything I’ve described about this listing is my best guess, including dimensions (I don’t have a tape measurer). I’ve only researched this settee for about an hour or so, but I believe the following are the key identifiers: 19th Century style Victorian striped 6-legged settee. The flame mahogany and burls are in magnificent condition with very few nicks but there are small ones mainly on the feet. But normally these have a lot of venerer missing and this is in unreal condition. Cats at some point scratched the back corners of the fabric as shown. This has very expensive monkey fabric and the upholstery is fairly new and cushioning is highly perfect and professional. This is a very large thick empire sofa and magnificent. This is a very high-quality, very heavy piece. There is different fabric on the back. 34 inches tall by 83 inches long by 33 inches deep. The total weight is approximately 150 pounds. A wonderful caned back mahogany British Colonial West Indies settee, circa 1840. This is a really. Fine example of British Colonial West Indies furniture similar to the pieces illustrated in Michael Connors. Book “BRITISH WEST INDIES STYLE” published in 2010 by Rizzoli.
