This sofa belonged to my great grandmother who was born in 1898, I do not know the year it was made. It has the original horsehair cushions and the fabric is spotless. This is a beautiful French sofa in the Louis XVI style. It is very sturdy and ready to be used on a day-to-day basis. The gold leaf on the frame is in a very good condition. The seating is filled very nicely for comfortable seating. This beautiful item can be used in a hallway, in the bedroom, in a living room, anywhere it will form the highlight and eye-catcher of the room. The decorative carving work was all done hand-made and looks very nicely. The measurements of this item (in inches) are. 40.5W x 29H x 21.5D. Floor to seat 16. Both the seating area as well as the sides have been decorated with capitone style buttons (tufted) in the fabric, that make the extra chique-looking folds in the material. This is a beautiful antique French Louis XVI sofa. The frame has its authentic golden colour with darker accents and details. It was hand-carved and decorated in beech wood, and is very sturdy and ready for every-day usage. Cushions are filled very nicely for comfortable seating. It has been furnished by very specialized people. This beautiful item can be used in a hallway, in the bedroom, in a living room, anywhere it will form the highlight and eye-catcher of the room. The decorative carving work was all done hand-made and looks very nicely detailed.
