Vintage Kroehler Atomic Sectional Sofa. This Mid-Century Modern sectional Sofa was built to last, the construction is very solid – very good bones. Left and Right sides measure 50″ in length x 36″ deep. Center measures 80″ around the back and 36″ deep on each side. The upholstery is original, its faded in spots and in fair shape. The color is a dusty rose and yes, its scratchy (you have to love the old fabrics of that period). The foam in the seat cushions absolutely need replacing. This set was NEVER USED. The man I bought it from said, as children. They weren’t even allowed to go into the living room of their aunt’s house. She kept it in. Nice zippered plastic coverings. And never sat on it. It is a great shade of Golden Chocolate Brown/Bronze with Creamy Tan and the ever popular, classic silver thread running through it. It also has the chair which has 3 decorative metal rods on each side. We have been in the antique business 40 plus years and we have never. Ever found a perfect time capsule wrapped in plastic, like this one. We unwrapped the chair so you can see the pattern and color better. But you can also have the plastic covers. They are intact with zippers working. Great if you have children or pets or both. Did I mention that is is COMPHY? No dry rot here. Cushions are new and comfortable, not dried out or crunchy. Fabric with silver thread running through is spotless and perfect. Sofa and chair are sturdy and comfortable. Plastic only is yellowing, couch and chair are bright and spotless. This set was fabric covered, and I was thrilled to see what was underneath, awesome original atomic fabric. Very light wear to the fabric. Cushions do have water stains and should be soaked. Original 1950s solid elm settee by Ercol of High Wycombe, England. Lucien Ercolani introduced the Windsor chair at the Britain Can Make It Exhibition in 1946 and Ercol’s Windsor Range was born. The settee was shown at the 1953 Earl’s Court British Furniture Exhibition in 1953 and featured in an ad in The Cabinet Maker Magazine, September 29, 1956. We have seen it featured in Ercol catalogues through 1958. We have upgraded the cushions and fabric to reflect current trends in decorating, particularly for mid-century inspired interiors in lofts, ranch homes, and condos. Offered is (one) of (ten) vintage tubular chrome modular sofas attributed to Irving and Leon Rosen for Pace. Reminiscent of Milo Baughman designs, this space-age slipper sofa has rounded tubular edges, four “bucket” seats and hex bolt connections. Since the individual seat sections can be removed, the frame could be used as a foundation for a long bench (last photo). The seat section wood frame could be used for the foundation for a seat cushion only if a bench was desired. The upholstered sections could also be redone with more “plush” padding for a more “residential” feel. Likely reupholstered at some point, this 1960′s-1970′s era couch is perfect for a start-up office, business waiting room, hotel or home. I have 10 available. The sofas can be extended even longer than 9′ (adding another 3 seats) by removing the end piece and adding another section (not shown). Underside shows the strapping securing system. Each bucket seat cane removed. All the upholstery is the maroon textile. Each of the metal round foot pads screws/unscrews to assist in leveling. Very good condition with some blemishes, tears and fading to some seats. Chrome in very good condition. I haven’t inventoried all the pieces so there may be some missing hex bolts. 108″ (9′) long x 29″ tall x 27″ depth with seat height of 17″. This is absolutely the coolest mid-century sofa I’ve ever owned. The amoeba shaped footprint, hairpin legs, asymmetrical separation between the seat portion and ottoman, light gabardine? Atomic print, the two-tone aesthetic, and low profile build all contribute to it’s overall killer vibe. It’s not perfect, can most certainly use a cleaning, but it hasn’t stopped me from enjoying it in my studio. Gotta move so it’s gotta go. A hair over 6′ long x 3.1′ deep. Compact when combined and a ridiculous statement when slightly apart, this is as good as unknown’50s Mid-Century design gets!
