This period classical box sofa features a flat crest-rail with lovely inlay, arm rests with detailed carved shells (this portion of the arm rests lift off see picture). The rounded straight seat-rail features period gadrooned bottom edge with the Roman front feet constructed in 2 parts, one is a separate carved donut shaped disk that can be rotated independently from the rest of the foot. This feature as well as the shell carved arms and construction of the lift off arms are a signature of the Philadelphia cabinet makers Cook & Parkin. This period sofa is tight and solid with no issues or concerns we can find. The vintage fabric looks good with only a slight stain which I have tried to capture in a close up picture and there are a couple small veneer chips here and there nothing major or distracting to this magnificent almost 200 year old sofa at all in my opinion. Truly a quality made sofa ready to become a treasured part of your home with a regal and grand presence. Seat width of 71 1/2 inches. Seat depth of 19 1/2 inches. Total depth front to back 24 inches.
