Royal House Antiques is delighted to offer for sale this sublime and highly collectable (part of a suite) New Old Stock George Smith Bulster or Bluster arm sofa upholstered with Aztec Kilim and finished with oversized feather filled cushions. This sofa is as mentioned part of a suite, I have two armchairs with different colour kilims, no two kilims are the same of course, and this matching large Regency style Bluster or Bulster arm sofa. These came from pretty much the finest English country house estate I have ever seen in real life, Longstow Hall, it has the most picturesque grounds in such a wonderful setting. The suite was bought by the owner of the estate and set in his wonderful restored cottage which he never used, as such these pieces sat there and have stayed in retail new condition throughout. This model of sofa never comes up on the open market as they are all kept in the family, they are amazing. The cushions are overstuffed feather and down filled, they are enormous. Condition wise as mentioned its new old stock, it might have the odd tiny mark in the legs from transport or storage but otherwise its perfect. Height:- 83cm seat height 57cm. The sofa comes with overstuffed feather filled cushions, it doesnt have the thin legs it has the wider legs for those who dont want castors on wood floors, I can fit a nice set of either polished chrome, porcelain or brass castors for the cost price should the new owner wish. A very good looking and iconic sofa, hand made in England by the geniuss at George Smith. The sofa model is called the signature arm, its based on the original by Howard & Sons. Its upholstered in vintage Kilim upholstery, traditional Victorian country house sofas made famous kilim furniture. The cushions are medium feather filled and very comfortable. The upholstery is very old and worn thin in some places, at the back where your head rests and at the very back behind, I have pictured the most worn patches. This sofa is pretty much the best condition George Smith Kilim I have ever seen, it is in perfect condition to my hands and eyes. Kilim upholstery furniture dates back to the early Victorian era, they were present in the finest country homes, a Kilim is basically a rug used for upholstery, this sofa has two large kilims used, they are an Aztec pattern and look amazing. The cushions are very thick and heavy feather filled, George smith sofas have a special feature, the back rest stops short of the bottom and leaves a gap for the cushions to go inside the frame, it means the cushions sit in place allot easier and have more feathers, the main reason is though your never sitting on the back edge of the cushion which is where it would be more likely to go flat so you have a better seat for longer. Depth:- 105cm with the back to the wall to the front of the frame, 109cm to the front of the cushion.
