A Very Fine American Federal Period Carved Mahogany Sofa, circa 1830. Features a bowfront frame with sloped arms leading to reeded supports. The sofa is supported by turned and reeded legs at the front and square tapered saber legs along the rear. Upholstered in a red floral silk fabric, a great candidate for re-upholstery. Good Overall; Frame shows some nick, marks and finish wear from age. Old fabric is loose, torn, missing in spots and stained. 72″ x 35″h x 30″, seat 21″. Antique American Duncan Phyfe Federal Mahogany Carved Wood Furniture Sofa Couch. This is a nice original antique Federal Period American Sofa. This sofa has a hand carved wood Mahogany frame (see photos). The item is not marked by a maker, but I have not removed the upholstery to check the frame. The item looks to be an American Federal Period sofa and to possibly by by Duncan Phyfe (see photos and decode age and maker). The item has a nice hand carved decorative style and carved paw feet (see photos). The item is dirty and obviously needs to be professionally re-upholstered and cleaned up (see photos). This item is from the same estate as the two Antique American portrait paintings I currently have listed. The family dates back to before the Declaration of Independence was signed. The item has some obvious signs of wear from age and use (see photos and / or written description for the condition of this item).
