This John Henry Belter Victorian Rosewood Recamier / Meridien is approximately 42″ tall and 68″ wide. The seat is 26 deep at its widest point. The pierce carved crest and rosewood frame and legs retain their original finish. The upholstery is also original as are the castors. 1860, this rare piece belongs in the home of the serious collector, dealer or historian of antique American Victorian furniture.

Off-white sofa and chair with a wooden frame. Maybe it is better call them “cream colored”. They both have damask upholstery with tufting i. Buttons pushed into the fabric. These items were custom upholstered. Not new, but any flaws are very minor. A nice matching set that would fit well into a formal living room. Or a sitting area. The chair is 36 inches tall… A little taller than the sofa. I’m in Allen TX, so this would be a relatively easy pick-up for anyone. In the Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) area. PRICED TO SELL QUICKLY. This item is easily worth 2X to 3X of my asking price.

We have had this for over 20 years. I’ve looked, but haven’t been able to find anything. I also don’t know exactly where to look. It is in very nice condition. You can see the back can be separated (could easily be reglued), but it makes for easier transport when removed. You can also see the individual dowels appear to be hand carved, but I’m not an expert. The right side lion we think? Has some damage, and there are of course a number of scratches and scuffs which can be seen in the photos. Please let me know if you have any questions, or would like additional photos.
