Only needs a touchup on the fabric in one place where someone may have set a wine glass, a very slight ring from the bottom rim of a glass but only the outline of the ring not a full circle, but this is immaculate for its age and the wood is outstanding and beautiful with many carvings and made of solid walnut. We are pleased to be offering this little Victorian Cameo-back Sofa to you today. Dating from 1870s, this solid black walnut, cabriole leg sofa is in wonderful condition. It looks like the wooden frame is all original, but they stripped the wood down to the original patina when it was reupholstered approximately 30 years ago. The reupholstery has held up well, and doesn’t appear to have any stains, rips, or tears. The wooden frame has a hand carved crest on top and wraps down into a cabriole leg and serpentine front skirt. It has the original porcelain castors, and would look great in any room. The overall size is 60 inches wide, 48 inches wide across the seat, 28 inches deep, 39 inches high to the back and 17 inches high to the seat. This is a great sofa. Very pretty antique settee made of mahogany with inlays. Beautiful cameo center and button tufted fabric. The fabric is worn on the seat but beautiful on the back and the backside. It appears to be some sort of silk. The seat fabric needs TLC. Beautiful cabriole legs and wheels on all 4 feet. The wood is in very good condition showing normal wear that could use some dark oil. Sofa is approx 39 high at the back and 5ft wide. Covered with canary yellow velvet. Would go well in any rococo, old English, Hollywood glam, bohemian, eclectic or French style decor. Perfect for a film prop or an upmarket wedding or family photography studio. I checked the shop is no longer there! The label underneath shows that it was re-upholstered in 1976. Although it has been well looked after and is a really lovely set that was in a room used only on special occasions its not perfect – the velvet color has faded more on two of the chairs and all of them could do with refurbishment due to the expected marks and scratches that come from a lifetime in a family home. The actual structure though is solid with no issues. A professional restorer would probably redo all the joints when they are reupholstered but its all perfectly fine to sit on as it is. This beautiful Settee features a classic silhouette, gorgeous heavy hand carved details decorating the frame including a fantastic Cameo motif on the back, and a lovely distress finish to the wood frame. The fabric is in fairly good condition, however we would recommend to have it professionally cleaned or re-upholstered as there is some wear and tear here and there, please ask for a quote on re-upholstery if you are interested.
