A wonderful caned back mahogany British Colonial West Indies settee, circa 1840. This is a really. Fine example of British Colonial West Indies furniture similar to the pieces illustrated in Michael Connors. Book “BRITISH WEST INDIES STYLE” published in 2010 by Rizzoli. The Metropolitan Museum of Fine Art. Simultaneously held an exhibition on British Colonial furniture. This settee is of equal quality. Size; approximately 84″ long by 40″ high by 28 deep. The wood frame is in good condition but It needs touch up or refinishing. Needs to be reupholstered. There is a small whole in the cane back which would be concealed with throw pillows.
