Here is a wonderful period classical empire sofa probably from the philadephia area, the fabric is usable but its worn, the sofa has outstanding carving and a line inlayed crest, wonderful lines, acanthus and paw foot, dovetailed frame stretchers looks like pine secodary wood, 87 inches wide 22 deep and 36 tall, this would make a wonderful project for someone, great bones.

The sofa is mid 19th century American Empire possibly Tennessee made scroll arm and back with carved acanthus. Most of these are made of mahogany but if it is Tennessee made it was probably cherry. Inherited from my father who lived his entire life in Tennessee. The sofa was re-covered professionally, the fabric is a classic William Morris lily leaf print.
