Empire Antique 1825 Acanthus Carved Mahogany Sofa, Recent Upholstery #31579. An American Empire period sofa from about 1825 was hand carved of solid mahogany with matched flame grain panels and acanthus motifs. Upholstery is recent and in very fine condition, with brass nailhead trim. The restored finish is in very fine condition, preserving some shrinkage separations for antique character, see photos. Reglued to serve another generation, the frame is tight and strong. The seat cushion is quite firm on this historic East Coast furniture. Brass wheels are original.
