Antique Original Scalamandre Silk Carved Georgian Mahogany Chippendale Ribbonback Settee Sofa Loveseat Bench. This is an Original & Rare Antique Carved Mahogany Georgian Chippendale Ribbonback Sofa Loveseat Settee Bench. This Piece was Beautifully Upholstered in Scalamandre Silk that has a Gorgeous Floral Décor Pattern. It sits on Nicely Curved Cabriole Legs with Scrolled Feet. It was Hand Carved from Solid Mahogany with a Beautiful Triple Carved Backrest in a Ribbonback Design that was Beautifully done from the Time Period. It has Floral Motifs & Nicely Carved Acanthus Leaves & Ripple Carved Ribbonback Details throughout. It has nicely curved Armrests with Floral Bellflowers. This settee comes directly attributed to a school of Thomas Chippendale. If you look in the Book “The Gentleman & Cabinet Makers Director” by Thomas Chippendale. You will see Reference Plate XI – Chair leg Design / Plate XV of the Ribband Back Design. This piece is an identical configuration of both reference points in the Plate Designs that are recorded in the Cabinetmakers Book directly from Thomas Chippendale. This is also an Earlier Period piece from the 1800s and comes from Northeast Region of the US. This piece can be considered in the school or manner or circle of Thomas Chippendale. It is Finished on ALL Sides so it can be set. Anywhere in a room. This came from a Private Estate Collection which makes it very Rare Due to its Size, Age & Beauty and is one of a kind. Scalamandre Upholstered Vintage Sofa, Down Cushions #28750. A sofa from about 50 years ago has recent “Scalamandre” custom upholstering in very fine condition. We see only very minor spots and scuffs to the luxurious fabric. The pair of extra pillows as shown are included, the custom skirt is in beautiful condition. The comfortable frame is strong and has original brass wheels. Cushions are down filled and wrapped, there are zippers for easier cleaning. The maker’s signature was lost when reupholstered. As in the English original, circa 1725, this exceedingly beautiful reproduction settee shows the strong, symmetrical, yet curvilinear lines of the late Queen Anne style. It features carved open S-curved arms terminating in graceful volutes and sculpted cabriole legs with shaped wings terminating in pad feet. Excellent Original Finish & Condition.
