Lots of potential for this Victorian sofa! Needs to be reupholstered, and some joint tightening in the process. See photos for detail of the carving. Beautiful Antique Parlor Set Loveseat Settee, Rocker & Chair 1920′s REDUCED

Beautiful Antique Settee Set – Loveseat, Rocker & Chair. I’ve owned this set for 40 years, but now it’s time to downsize. I was told the wood is cherry and the set dates to the 1920′s, but I’m not an expert. The set was reupholstered in 1994 to the fabric you see now. It’s fairly neutral and has the appearance of needlepoint when you look closely, even though it’s not. The backs are 36 high. The settee is 41″ across, and the chair and rocker are 21″ across. The wood has slightly split on the scrolled sides, at least one side on each piece, but the separation is clean and looks to be easily repaired. It’s really a beautiful set and comes from a non-smoking home. I’ve taken good care of it in the 40 years it’s been in my possession. You can see them somewhat in the photos already. Please ask for any additional photos prior to purchasing so you can be satisfied of the condition. This rare piece is upholstered in reds, gold, cream and a tiny stripe of green/teal. The back and side panels are covered in a coordinating fabric – red with teensy gold dots. My guests love it and always want to have their photo taken on the fancy sofa. It basically steals the show! I just dont have the room anymore. This sofas frame is as solid as a rock. The seat springs are firm and pretty darn comfortable. It boasts vibrant flame mahogany veneers. It lives in a children-free, dog-free, non-smoking household. The mahogany is babied regularly with Feed-n-Wax beeswax polish. The upholstery will (re)steamed prior to sale. Please feel free to ask any questions! Price Reduced to sell! No more space to store couches we aren’t using. Authentic Pre-Victorian Hand-carved Walnut Couch. Created in the Federal Style during the Empire Era. Just look at the carvings on the legs and the center headboard. A true work of art. Perfect for the right home or office. Cleaning may be enough for presentation and ginger use. This is NOT a reproduction. This is an authentic federal-period hand-carved piece of furniture. The upholstery has been replaced. We were planning to re-upholster and use it but there really is no room for it as we downsize. This was the couch in my home when I grew up. It was an 1840s mansion on the historic register, and this was one of the couches I was not allowed to sit on. Rare couch ready for upholstery or preservation and display. Needs fabric restoration for full utility. May also need spring restoration/repair. From a historic mansion in Prince George’s County, Maryland. On display for almost 10 years in 1980s.
