Solid mahogany has traditional handcarving with “horn of plenty” or cornucopia motifs. Classical bronze mounts and paw feet are original on this American made antique furniture. The old finish is in very fine condition, upholstery is recent and includes two bolster pillows. Tight and strong, the frame is sturdy, springs are comfortable. A period Empire rosewood daybed with beautiful carved details. It was adapted into a functional sofa with a closely matched carved back rail, with the option of using it or not. It retains it’s original highly polished finish. The drop in seat and back cushions are covered in tapestry fabric in good condition. The back cushion folds out to fit on top of the seat to create a thick, comfortable bed. It measures 79 inches wide, 33 1/2 inches deep and 33 1/2 inches high. With the optional back rail installed, the height of the center crest is 42 1/2 inches. The entire piece is easily dismantled for transport.
