Antique Edwardian Three Piece Rosewood & Mahogany Marquetry Inlaid Upholstered Salon Sofa and Pair of Armchairs Suite (Circa 1900). This is a superb quality antique Edwardian inlaid rosewood & mahogany marquetry three-piece salon suite, comprising a sofa and two armchairs, circa 1900, which has been newly upholstered, and is in good condition. Item: 3 Piece Suite. Wood: Solid Rosewood & Mahogany. Stunning marquetry & inlaid panels. Satinwood string inlay to frames. Newly upholstered structured silk brocade material. Pale gold & ivory colours. Fine ring turned feet. Splayed feet to the back (sign of quality). Original black mug castors. Original polish and patination. This is a superb quality antique Edwardian inlaid rosewood & mahogany marquetry three-piece salon suite, comprising a sofa and two armchairs, circa 1900, which has been newly upholstered in a beautiful pale gold & ivory structured silk brocade, finished with ivory braiding and is in good condition. The suite boasts satinwood floral string inlay to the arms and frames and a padded scroll backrest and down swept padded arms terminating on carved floral knuckles. The frames are decorated with stunning marquetry inlaid carved panels, depicting inlaid urns with crossed torches, flanked by elaborate foliate fretwork, interspersed between rows of fine mahogany spindles. Satinwood string inlay adorns the whole frame and further marquetry floral work is visible at the foot of the arms. The armchairs and sofa stand on pretty ring turned feet and they boast the original mug castors. The back feet are splayed, which is a sign of good quality. This suite features a rich brown rosewood colour to the frames. As it boasts the original polish, the suite has a fantastic colour and patination this can only be achieved through age and the years of care and cleaning it has received. It is impossible to recreate this colour if it has been re-polished. The suite would look superb in a variety of rooms, from the hallway to the living room or bedroom. Nominal old use marks to the rosewood frame, but nothing significant, considering the age of this item. Importantly, the back rail and arms are firm and there is no play in the joints. The suite has been newly upholstered in beautiful pale gold & ivory structured silk brocade, and finished with ivory braiding. The upholstery and braiding is therefore clean and free of marks, dirt or tears. The springs in the seats are firm and are comfortable to sit on. The legs retain their original brass mug castors. The three-piece suite is solid in joint and ready to use.
