Gorgeous Antique Anglo-Indian “Blackwood” Sofa from the Bombay Presidency Period of India. It is carved and pierced all over with fruiting vine, gorgeous serpentine back and sides over a serpentine front drop in seat on splayed feet. This piece is typical of Anglo-Indian Work in the administrative subdivision of British Indian known as the “Bombay Presidency” Circa 1860 manufacture. “Blackwood” is the generic term for the dark hardwoods used in these highly intricate pieces. Its most likely Rosewood from my inspection and experience in rare woods in furniture. This is a super cool rare piece of furniture with Heirloom quality. The cushion/ couch portion easily pops out of a fitted ledge so recovering is going to be very simple and economical. This piece is one of our rarest and most beautiful pieces ever offered.
